The glossy ibis, a nationally protected first-class wild animal, has recently been discovered in the forest wetland of Lower Zayul Town, Zayul County, Nyingchi City, Xizang. This marks the first sighting of the species in Zayul County and only the second reliable record of the glossy ibis in the Xizang Autonomous Region, following a previous observation in Xainza County, Nagqu in 2018. The significant discovery not only fills a gap in the distribution record of the glossy ibis in southeastern Xizang but also provides valuable first-hand data for studying the species’migration routes, population expansion, and habitat selection.
